Welcome to my first WIAW at Life Food and Beer. Today, I did not eat well at all! I am scheduled to take a break at 10:00, so I grabbed a Fresh Banana on my way out the door. My manager was going to a meeting and asked if I could stay and help prep for lunch, so I did not get a normal break for my real breakfast.
Around 11, I made some cookies, and when I was taking them out of the oven, one “fell on the floor”. Can’t waste it:) They are the biggest cookie I have ever seen. I’m sure it was a good 1000 plus calories. I forgot to take a picture. I did get a picture of our mascot for the day.
I came home from work and enjoyed my Gyro that we made today with fresh hummus. It was so good! I am enjoying my job. I have always wanted to work in a restaurant. Since I was in High School, I have talked about going to culinary school. I went to a local culinary school, but long story short, was not happy with the program and just completed the Prep Cook Certificate. I loved Culinary School, though. Learning new stuff about food and getting to cook for grades! AWESOME!!
Last night, me and Huck spent almost two hours talking about the future. We want to one day open a brewery and have also talked about opening a brewery/restaurant. I know after going to work the past three days and being excited to do something as small as chopping lettuce, it really makes me realize what I want to do.
After lunch, Huck wanted to go to Tequesta Brewing Company. He told one of the owners he would bring him a sample of one of his beers. The owners handed out a few cups to a couple of people at the bar and the bartender. Huck took the Award Winning Beer and everyone was really impressed with the flavor. His head was so big as we sat there… It knocked me off my stool a few times. 🙂 The owners of Tequesta were really nice, too. They remembered us from last time and asked where the rest of our group was (my parents.) I was impressed they remembered.
Huck’s beer with TBC beer. One day someone will take a picture of Hucklebuck Brewing and their home brew!!
I bottled my own beer tonight, too. I am going to do a full post on it when it is complete. Couple more weeks. We plan to have a pool party at our house when we open it. I am still working on the name. I liked Mrs. Hucklebuck Brewing. (I’m jumping the gun on the Mrs part but it sounds better.) I’m still thinking about it.
Here is a sneak peak of a few of the pictures.
I’m stronger than I thought, I guess! Also, home brewing is a full body workout. If you brew, you know what I mean! And yes, I am wearing my Beer Geek shirt and Hucklebuck Brewing Hat! I have to look the part.
Stay toned for the full post! I will breakdown all the steps and cost. It will blow your mind how easy and cheap home brewing can be.
While I was capping my bottles, Huck cooked us Pork Chops and Green Beans. Simple yet really good!
Well that was another WIAW. I didn’t add any extra veggies this week, so I will have to really step it up next time!
Does anyone else Brew their own beer? If so, what was your first beer? Did you like it?
