Foodie PenPal

The Lean Green Bean

A few weeks ago, I received a package in the mail. It is so exciting to go to the mail box and see a huge box with your name on it, and I knew this one was full of yummy food! Lindsay at The Lean Green Bean started a program where you each month you are paired up with a different person, and you exchange different food items in the mail. You also include a hand written letter. Some people are bloggers but it is open to everyone. I liked the idea of getting to try new things I would not normally buy.

This month my Foodie PenPal was Kathryn for Santa Barbara, California. It was neat receiving a package from the other side of the country. And it was great she is from California because me and Huck have been talking about planning a North to South Road Trip there this year. She sent me a list of some of her favorite places to go already. I am sure I will have lots more questions for her 🙂

I hit the jackpot this time! The Corn Nuts were the first to go. We snacked on them as we explored the other items in the box.

The BBQ sauce, croutons, and Raspberry Salad dressing were used for Pork Chops and Salad that night for dinner. The dressing was really good. All the items from the box besides the BBQ sauce and croutons were stuff I never would have bought but really liked.

Huck just coated the pork chops with BBQ sauce right before cooking.

I took the Peanut Butter and Jelly Squares to the Brew Bar to share with everyone. At 260 calories a bar, I did not trust myself with them.

I’m so glad I found Lindsay. Foodie PenPal is a great idea. I can’t wait for next month.

Kathryn is not a blogger, so I am not able to link to her site to show you what I sent her. Her box included items to make sushi at home, like, sushi rice, some really cool rice paper wrappers, wasabi, some amazing cookies, Hazelnut Spread, and some granola.

The rice wrappers came in different colors. I did not post a recipe or blog post for my sushi because it wasn't that great! Trust me. I have a lot more to experiment with.

If you are interested in the Foodie Penpal, here is the link to check it out Foodie Penpal. You sign up monthly, so if you do not enjoy it, you are not required to participate again.
