Tonight, Huck and I went to a BJCP class at the Bx Beer Depot. This was my first night. To judge beer competitions, you have to be certified by the BJCP. This class teaches you about each style of beer and what each style should taste/look/smell like. Tonight we talked about American Lagers and Pilsners.
It was nice to hear what other people taste in each beer. I could taste/smell different flavors, but was not sure what some of them were. One of the beers we tried had a skunk smell to it. This smell comes from light and is called Light Struck. This is why most brewers use dark bottles. The beer we tried was a pretty common beer too… Stella. The next class is off flavors and IPAs. Can’t wait to try a bunch of feet tasting beers. WOW.
I’m keeping this post super short because I am tired and hot and my laptop produces a lot of heat. Our A/C is broken and we do not know when they are getting the part to fix it. Currently in house is 82 degrees at 1045PM. For people that keep their house at 72, we are not very comfortable right now. Hopefully we will have it fixed tomorrow.
