Crockpot Corned Beef with Cabbage

Last night I prepared an (Americanized) Irish feast. We even had Irish beer. Oh and those amazing cupcakes!!

I made Corned Beef, Cabbage, Carrots, Mashed Potatoes, and the worst bread ever Beer Bread. I’ve never cooked Corned Beef before and always get nervous cooking new stuff for guest.

The house smelled like pastrami and beer all day.

Corned Beef with Cabbage, Carrots, and Mashed Potatoes

Last night, I forgot to use self rising flour for the bread. It came out really flat and doughy. I was ready to throw it away, but Karl and Holly said it was OK and they would eat it. I dipped it in some of the extra juice. Make sure you use SELF RISING FLOUR! It’s so important!

I used Harp Lager for the meat and Huck’s IPA for the bread. When using beer in your recipes, pick a full flavor beer. Light beer (Bud Light) doesn’t have enough flavor.

After dinner and cupcakes, we played Jenga.

  1. Awesome! I just found your blog linked from Peanut butter fingers. I also live in WPB (Wellington) and was also in dtWPB for St. Patty’s Day. It was a fun time, and I, too, indulged in too many shots! (We did baby guiness shots…hello stomach ache the next day!) Anyway I thought it was cool to find a local blogger. LOVE MELLOW MUSHROOM!!!!!
