The Start Of My New Buisness

Hi. My name is Sloane, and I have Psoriasis. I’m lucky I only have a few small spots over my body, but I always fear it will get worse. {A few weeks before the wedding I had a small spot pop up on my right cheek. I spent 2 full days crying every time I looked in the mirror.  I can deal with the area on my arm, side, and ear, but not my face! Luckily, the spot cleared up before the wedding and has not come back}

I see a Dermatologist regularly, and I’ve tried LOTS of creams, steroids, and sprays over the last 8 years. I recently started using a new non-steroidal medicine that seems to be working. The problem with Psoriasis, your body gets use to medications over time. I’m suppose to use it daily but only use it once every week or two. It’s doing the job for now, and I have my fingers crossed it will continue to work. The areas are still a little red, but the skin isn’t raised or flaky.

A while back, before I started this new medicine, I started researching “Home-Remedies” for Psoriasis. I started reading about how commercially made soap can dry your skin out and can make Psoriasis worse. I discovered that homemade soaps are better for your skin because the do not have all the chemicals and dyes that commercial soaps do. They’re also more moisturizing.

So, I decided to start making homemade soap. I figured it wouldn’t hurt my already damaged skin. As I researched soap making, I relived you can make soap with beer. Yes, I said beer. Crazy huh?

I did more research and learned that Hops and Yeast are really good for your skin and can help with Psoriasis symptoms.

If you read my blog, you know I’m a fan of putting beer in anything. So I decided to make a batch of Beer Soap. The first one I made was just Base Oils, Beer, Lye, and Spent Grains. Nothing special, but it worked really well.

Since that batch, I’ve been experimenting with different Beers, Essential Oils {the smell good stuff}, and exfoliates {Grains, Coffee Grounds, Ect.}. It is fun playing with different combinations.

Huck and I like our new homemade soap, and after lots of research and talks with our accountant, I decided to start selling my homemade soaps. And that is how The Drunken Soap Company was born.  Print

They’re great for everyday use and make great gifts. What guy wouldn’t love beer soap?

I created a new page for The Drunken Soap Co. on the blog. You can find the styles of soap, I have available, and purchase soap right from my blog. Awesome, right?

I hope you enjoy my soap as much as I do!
