Top 5 Favorite Beers… Right Now!

It’s amazing how different my top 5 favorite beers are now compared to one year ago. I love hoppy beers now, but I still have some lighter beer I can’t live without. Here is my top 5 favorite beer…

1. Shiner Bock

Palm Beach Summer Beer Fest 2013 (20)

This is my favorite social beer. It’s like my version of Bud Light.

2. Terminally AleTBC

Terminally Ale Tequesta Brewing

If you follow me on Instagram {you’re following me, right?}, you know I’m a fan of this dark beer. Terminally Ale is a Brown Ale. It has some roasty favors and medium hoppiness. My favorite thing about this beer, it’s only 4.3%. It isn’t as strong as it looks.

3. Torpedo IPA– Sierra Nevada

Torpedo Extra IPA

Torpedo and 90 Minutes are almost always available in our house. This was Huck’s favorite beer until he started drinking G’Knight by Oskar Blues. It was too hoppy for me, then. Now, I like the favor. They’re strong though. After two, I become Chatty Cathy!

4. IPASweetwater

Sweetwater Brewery

I just love this beer! And I have to support my hometown brewery!

5. Anything Milk Stout

Mall of America Day (32)

I love Milk Stouts. Chocolate flavored beer? How can that be a bad thing? Milk Stouts are also my favorite beer to cook with. Moo Hoo Oatmeal Cookies anyone? This is another beer I can only have a few of, though. At like 300+ calories each, this isn’t a beer I’d enjoy on a night of drinking.

This list seems kind of lame now that I’m done, but these are the beers I’m most likely to order. I’m sure I could list a 100 other beers I like but these standout.

New Additions To LF&B

The Drunken Soap Company

I also wanted to point out a few new things on the blog. If you missed my blog post about my new business The Drunken Soap Company, check it out. I’m now making homemade soap using beer and you can purchase them on the blog.

I have a few different soaps available now and many more to come.

The Barley Dolls

For MONTHS, I’ve been talking about starting a group/club for women that like beer. Really, you don’t even have to like beer. Every beer event or competition I do, women always come up to me and ask questions. Their husband wants to start homebrewing or they like beer, and they don’t understand it.

I thought Huck was crazy when he started brewing beer, and I’m sure I freaked out once or twice when our closets were slowly taken over by brewing supplies.

I wanted to start a group for girls to get together and enjoy beer. For girls to see it’s not just a guy thing.

So, after months of talk, I officially have the first meeting scheduled. On August 29th, the Barley Dolls will be taking over TBC. Fran helped push me to get this going, and it only seemed fitting to have the first meeting there.

I have no idea how many people will show up, but so far the feedback has been good, and I have a feeling we’ll have a good turn out. I’ve reached out to a few of the breweries in the area and friends, that work in the beer industry, and everyone thinks it’s a great idea and seem excited to help.

One of the ladies helping me get this going, writes a newsletter for a local brewery. She was going to add the Barley Dolls to the newsletter and asked me what I’d like it to say, “Please come so I don’t feel like a loser and get drunk alone!” was my reply. She’s a great writer and came up with something way better:)

I’ll let everyone know how it goes!

What is your favorite beer and why?

  2. Interesting i think Shiner Bock is horrible. Goes to show you just how tastes differ. Also Das Biergarten tapped DFH 120 Minute last night. There may be a snifter or 2 left.
