One month later and I’m finally finishing our NYC trip recap. Did you miss any of the other post? If so, click on the links below:
- Day 1 {UGA Game and New Jersey}
- Day 2 {Chelsea Market, High Line, Top of the Rock}
- Day 3 {911 Memorial, Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and Brooklyn Bridge}
We were up early Tuesday morning, again. I wanted to get up to say goodbye to Elizabeth and Henrique before they left for the day and to thank them a million more times for allow us to stay and treating us so well. I told Huck I felt so bad that they allowed us to stay, feed us, gave us passes for the subway… {I could keep going}, but we’re the same way when people stay with us. It’s just weird being on the other side.
After they left, we took our time getting ready and headed to Central Park.
Our first stop was coffee and bagels! One of the things on my to-do-list was drink coffee while walking around Central Park.

We actually spent hours walking around the park. It’s so beautiful and peaceful.
It just kept going and going!
Of course our phones did not stop ringing.
I guess people did not get the memo that we were on vacation and trying enjoy the surroundings.
Eventually, we needed food and headed to Hell’s Kitchen for lunch. I had a few places in mind for lunch, but we ended up stopping at a Afghan restaurant. Huck suggested it as we walked by, and I was really hungry!
Ariana was super small but kind of cozy, and the waiter was really nice and the food was good. I’m sure he thought we were crazy when we ordered 3 appetizers {Yes 3! But they were small}: Aushak, Spinach Samusa, and Bolanee Kachalou, and one plate of Beef, Chicken, and Lamb Kebab. The Aushak was our favorite. I actually bought ingredients to make it this week.
Once we finished lunch, we made our way back to Elizabeth’s to pack and get ready to go.
Before we headed to the airport, we enjoyed our 2nd anniversary beer on the balcony while enjoying the view. Huck made a homebrew as a wedding favor, and we had one last year to celebrate our anniversary instead of eating year old cake. We actually had a bunch of family members that saved their beers instead of drinking them, so we went around collecting bottles. We now have enough beer to celebrate our 3rd, 4th, 5th, 10th, and 15th anniversary.
This year, we enjoyed our beers a day late, but still worth the trouble of shipping it to NYC to enjoy. Last year’s beer tasted like Dr. Pepper. This year, there was no soda taste, and it was actually really good. I was kind of scared at first. We also had the same beer that the guys brewed this year to compare the two.
Once we finished our beers, we headed to the airport, and just like that, our trip was over 😦
I honestly can’t wait to go back. Is once a year too much? Maybe every six months? Can we just move there??
As our plane was descending into PBI, I looked at Huck and asked where we’re going for our next adventure. Traveling really is an addiction.
I’ll be back with a recap from our brewery tours at Sixpoint and Brooklyn, and some yummy cold weather recipes.

The pictures of the park were Beautiful. Didn’t know it was so big, and Elizabeth’s balcony view is really nice. Glad ya’ll got to spend some time together.So Happy you all had a good time and Anniversary. We Love You Both, Mom
