In my last post from our Craft Beer Road Trip, we were leaving Louisville heading south to Nashville, Tennessee.
Our first stop in Nashville was at Jackalope Brewing Company. I’ve wanted to visit this brewery since they opened in 2011. It’s one of the few breweries founded by women {that of course is changing with more and more women opening breweries}.
We ordered a flight and planned out our evening. I originally wanted to get dinner, and head downtown to visit a few “Honky Tonks”, but after riding through downtown, we decided to scratch that idea.
For our “hotel”, we used AirBnB, again and had another great experience. We stayed at the Cozy Cottage close to downtown.

This place was great. The house was really clean, and the bed was comfortable. We both loved how the house was decorated too. It was so cozy and made me want to come home and start decorating our own house. The owners were not home during our stay, but they were really helpful and offered recommendations of local places to go. I HIGHLY recommend this place if you’re staying in Nashville. It’s really close to downtown and more affordable and comfortable than a hotel. Uber was an inexpensive option for getting to downtown or East Nashville like we did.
After freshening up, we decided to head to East Nashville for dinner and drinks as recommended by my cousin.
We went to Edley’s Bar-B-Que for dinner. Huck ordered the Kermit, BBQ sandwich with fried pickles and a ranch sauce. I ordered a regular BBQ sandwich with mac and cheese and collards. Everything was good and we arrived during happy hour with 2 for 1 craft beer!
From there we headed next door to The Filling Station to stock up on beer we can’t get at home. One good thing about driving, lots of room for beer 🙂
Our last stop of the night was Fat Bottom Brewery. We ordered another flight and enjoyed our beers in the beer garden before calling it a night.
The next morning, we got up early and had breakfast at Red Bicycle Coffee and Crepes. Huck ordered the bagel breakfast sandwich, and I ordered the Sunrise breakfast crepe. Both were HUGE! We enjoyed our breakfast outside on the patio enjoying the beautiful weather before making our way back to Georgia.
We passed so many cool places along the way, I wish we had more time to stop and explore. One day, we can plan a road trip with no timelines or plans and stop where ever/whenever we want!
Once in Georgia, we spent a few days visiting family.
And then it was time to head home. Our week on the road was over in a flash. It was great road trip with lots of beer, food, and family time. I was sad to leave.
Road trip Tip: Found a great travel partner and audio-books. Highly recommend audio-books!!
